Tango Fusion Improvised Video

Story 457 | Argentine Tango, Contemporary, Creative Work, Elbow Room Dance Company, Tango Fusion | Performance | 1 Project

At the heart of Authentic Argentine tango is improvisation, through a powerful connection in embrace, expressing musicality from moment to moment. Improvisation is also a key tool in Ani’s creative process and her performance practice. Here Ani and Martin’s intension is to move seamlessly, sliding through classic Tango concepts, moves and lines, in response to Tango terms called out from the audience previously in an exercise and game we played together.  By breathing in and out of Tango and contact improvisation, Ani and Martin were able to express their unique found language. Enjoy Tango Fusion improvised.

Performed as part of an informal showing of work in progress whilst in residency at Dance Base in Edinburgh in 2010 and incorporated into the piece commissioned by City Moves for their Dance Live Festival Aberdeen.
